Schneeburg, Medieval castle ruin on Schönberg, Germany.
Schneeburg is a castle ruin on Schönberg near Ebringen, Germany. The remains show the foundation walls of a rectangular fortress with a preserved corner tower on the northwestern side.
The castle was first mentioned in 1312 under Friedrich von Hornberg's ownership. In 1349 it passed to the Abbey of Saint Gall through feudal agreements in the region.
The ruins show how castles were built in the 13th century, with a rectangular layout and defensive moat. Visitors can see today how the walls were arranged and what rooms once existed.
The ruin is accessible at all times, but the ground is steep and uneven, so careful climbing is necessary. Sturdy footwear and attention are important to navigate safely on the site.
The northwestern corner of the structure rises several meters high and shows windows from multiple stories. This corner offers views across the surrounding landscape and gives a rare impression of the original building's vertical structure.
