Blumengroßmarkthalle, Flower wholesale market structure in Berlin-Kreuzberg, Germany
The Blumengroßmarkthalle features a concrete skeleton structure covered with wash concrete panels, providing 6,436 square meters of commercial space.
Originally established in 1922 near Markthalle II, the structure underwent several reconstructions, including rebuilding after World War II destruction and a new design in 1965.
The building transformed from a flower market into the W. Michael Blumenthal Academy of the Jewish Museum Berlin, housing educational programs and archives.
The structure's renovation in 2012 integrated modern facilities while maintaining the original architectural elements designed by Bruno Grimmek.
Local initiatives developed the surrounding area into a creative district, combining residential spaces with cultural venues through an innovative urban planning process.
