Burg Schnellerts is a castle ruin on elevated terrain in Affhöllerbach with remaining walls from different medieval construction phases. The stone structures show how the fortification was built with towers and defensive features.

The castle was built in medieval times as a defensive structure for the surrounding Hessian region and served strategic purposes. Over time it lost importance and gradually deteriorated into the ruins visible today.

The name Schnellerts comes from the hill, first recorded in 1426 as "snelharts wiese"; the castle's own name is unknown. Local lore tells of a Schnellerts ghost that walks through the barns of the Haalhöfe, and the Rodenstein legend has the Schnellerts lord flying through the air to Rodenstein. A summer festival has been held on the levelled castle grounds since 1840.

Visiting requires sturdy footwear and careful footing on uneven ground with rocks and rough terrain. The site is not wheelchair accessible and is best visited during dry conditions.

The castle's own name is unknown: "Schnellerts" comes from the hill, first recorded in 1426 as "snelharts wiese". The Reichenbach protocols of 1742 note a "Schnellertsgeist", a ghost said to ride through the barns of the Haalhöfe below the ruin after midnight.
