Burg Seffent, Medieval castle in Seffent district, Aachen, Germany

Burg Seffent is a four-wing complex of sandstone-coloured rubble masonry in the Laurensberg district of Aachen. Its north corner has a round tower with a conical helm, and a massive half-round defensive tower stands at the east corner. The present fabric mostly dates from the Thirty Years' War and the 18th century; the main house was extended and given a triangular gable at the end of the 18th century.

First recorded in 896 as Seffenter Hof, the property changed hands over centuries as it grew from a rural estate into a fortified residence. The transition from simple farmstead to defensive structure shaped its physical form and purpose through different periods.

The name Seffent comes from the hamlet of Seffent in northwestern Aachen, where the castle stands. Since the 1985 restoration the former four-wing complex has been divided into 14 apartments, so the buildings are lived in rather than presented as a monument. The restaurant created during that conversion has since closed.
