Darsser Ort

The northern tip of the Darß peninsula features extensive sandy beaches, dunes, and sediment deposits formed by western currents over centuries.

The 35-meter lighthouse, constructed in 1847-1848, guided maritime traffic through the Baltic Sea and continues its operation to this day.

The maritime traditions of the region manifest through seasonal festivals and local customs centered around the seafaring heritage of Darsser Ort.

Visitors must follow designated paths to protect rare plant species and nesting seabirds within the nature reserve of Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park.

The ongoing land formation process creates new features like the Darßer Schwelle sandbar and separates sections of the Baltic Sea into lakes.
