Dock C, Maritime testing facility in Kiel, Germany
Dock C is a testing facility in Kiel and measures about 74 meters in length. The structure contains a large pressure chamber specifically designed for submarine inspections.
The facility was built in 1967 by Flender-Werke Lübeck and served for decades as a submarine testing site. It was decommissioned in 2012, ending its active operational phase.
The facility represented German engineering excellence, attracting NATO partners who sought its specialized capabilities for submarine pressure testing.
The site is located in an industrial area of Kiel and is best reached on foot or by car. The structure is visible from outside, but access to the interior requires prior arrangement.
Throughout its service, Dock C conducted over 1000 dockings, including the notable destruction test of submarine U3 in 1970.
