Dom- und Diözesanmuseum, Diocesan Museum near Mainz Cathedral, Germany
The museum spans 3,000 square meters across the Gothic cloister, displaying religious art collections from ancient times to contemporary periods.
Founded in 1925, the museum preserves ecclesiastical treasures, including stone sculptures from the 9th to 14th centuries and artifacts from Europe's former largest archdiocese.
The collection features gold chalices, monstrances from different style periods, and Gothic book covers in the Treasury located in the Nicholas Chapel.
The museum opens Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 to 17:00 and weekends from 11:00 to 18:00, with the Treasury area offering step-free access.
The museum exhibits a silk chasuble connected to Archbishop Willigis from 975-1011, originating from Mainz's St. Stephen's Church.
