Kirche Groß Zicker, Gothic church in Mönchgut, Germany.
Kirche Groß Zicker is a brick Gothic church located in Mönchgut on the island of Rügen. It features a five-sided choir with cross-ribbed vaulting, a flat-roofed nave, and a wooden bell tower covered in wooden shingles.
The church was built around 1350, making it one of the oldest structures in the region. When the Eldena monastery acquired the Mönchgut territory in 1360, the church was already documented in their purchase records.
The interior displays medieval consecration crosses on the walls and a baroque pulpit from the 1600s. These elements reflect how worshippers have gathered here and expressed their faith across the centuries.
The building sits at Boddenstraße 14a in Gager and is easy to reach on foot. Regular services take place throughout the year, and visitors are welcome to explore the interior when the doors are open and services are not underway.
The church holds one of Rügen's oldest bells, cast around 1400. Even more striking is the sacramental cabinet, which was carved from a single oak trunk.
