Stadtcafé Ottensen

Stadtcafé Ottensen is a building with curved lines, colorful ceramic tiles, and a courtyard fountain spanning two levels. It contains event spaces that can accommodate groups of up to 100 people.

Originally built as a fire station, the building was later transformed into a café. Its 2013 renovation preserved the original facade while modernizing the interior.

The building follows ideas that reject straight lines and favor curved, organic shapes in its design. Visitors can see this approach in the colorful tile work and planted areas throughout the interior spaces.

The café is located at Behringstrasse 42-44 in Hamburg-Altona and serves both visitors and event organizers. The curved pathways and two levels require some patience to explore, but all areas are easily accessible.

The building uses fragments of colorful ceramic tiles and various plants to create artistic details throughout. These elements transform ordinary surfaces into visual stories that connect to its past life as a fire station.
