Zeisehallen, Arts centre in Ottensen, Germany
Zeisehallen is a former factory complex with two large halls: one in the north with theater facilities and one in the south converted into a passage with shops and cinema spaces. The building houses various areas for film, exhibitions, restaurants, and other cultural uses.
The site was originally a ship propeller factory built in 1882 and grew through expansions in the 1890s. As shipbuilding declined, the factory closed in 1979 and was later transformed into a cultural center.
The complex houses art institutions and film schools that have made their home in the halls. Visitors can see exhibitions and encounter people working in film and theater throughout the space.
The site has cinema halls, exhibition areas, restaurants, and shops that make it a complete destination. Plan time to explore different sections, especially if you are interested in film or theater activities.
The site preserves visible remains of its industrial past, such as brick walls, crane hooks, and a large propeller casting mold set into the floor. These original elements remind visitors of the time when ships were built here.
