Girardethaus, Publishing house architectural monument on Königsallee, Düsseldorf, Germany.
The Girardethaus is a business building on Königsallee in Düsseldorf designed with light gray limestone facades and elaborate sculptural details. Local sculptor Albert Pehle created the ornamental work that decorates the exterior throughout the structure.
The building was constructed in 1906 for the Girardet publishing company according to plans by architect Hermann vom Endt and completed in 1910. Its creation marked a time when new office buildings in Düsseldorf combined modern function with artistic ambition.
The building shows the design language of reform architecture with baroque elements that were common in Germany around 1900. This mix of bold form and decorative details shapes how the street looks and feels today.
The building is now a modern business center with offices and meeting spaces, so it is accessible from the outside. Visitors can view the facade and entrance area with its decorative details, but should be aware that the interior is private space.
The entrance is crowned by an elaborate canopy that houses a handmade bronze clock with a golden finish. This clock was produced by the Bernhard Förster bronze foundry and stands out as one of the building's distinctive features.
