Hom Berg, Hill summit in Herford, Germany
Hom Berg is a hill in Herford that stands at about 201 meters and sits between the Ravensberger Hills and the Lipper Mountain region. The landscape is shaped by different slope areas and a nature reserve that protects the eastern and northern sides.
The site became a memorial location to remember soldiers from Falkendiek who fell during World War I. A war memorial with inscriptions carved into stones still marks this place of remembrance.
The name reflects the hill's role as a local landmark within the region's geography. Today, visitors encounter art installations on the summit that blend into the natural surroundings.
The area offers opportunities to walk and explore, with different paths along the slopes and access from the Am Brinke parking area. Visitors should be aware that the terrain is open and paths can vary depending on the season.
In 2008, philosophical sayings were carved into oak and beech tree trunks across the summit as part of an art project. This work links nature and thought in an unexpected way.
