Echterspfahl, Historic hermitage in Weibersbrunn, Germany.
Located at an elevation of 490 meters, Echterspfahl stands at the intersection of ancient trade routes in the Spessart mountain range.
The site served as a meeting point for hunters and gamekeepers of the Archbishop-Electors of Mainz during the period when the forest belonged to Kurmainz.
The name Echterspfahl refers to three Echter brothers who, according to local tales, tied their horses to a post with three metal rings.
The former forest house operated as a restaurant until 2020, situated along the Bundesstrasse 8 road between Frankfurt and Würzburg.
The three rings from the legend became part of the Echter family coat of arms and are now incorporated into the district emblem of Aschaffenburg.
