E-Werk, Concert hall in Mülheim, Germany

E-Werk is a former electrical power station with red brick facades and industrial elements from the early 1900s that now operates as a concert hall. The main hall accommodates roughly 2,000 people and hosts concerts, corporate events, and private celebrations.

The power station was built between 1904 and 1905 and supplied electricity to Mülheim until 1930. Afterward, the building was converted into a rope manufacturing facility before eventually becoming a cultural venue.

The venue has served as the home for Stunksitzung since 1991, an alternative carnival celebration that offers performances and events throughout the year. Visitors experience a lively blend of music, theater, and local tradition that goes beyond typical carnival festivities.

The building is easily accessible and offers flexible interior spaces suitable for various types of events. Visitors should check ahead to see what performances or gatherings are scheduled to plan their visit effectively.

Musicians from the Cologne band BAP purchased the abandoned site in 1991 and transformed it into a cultural center. Their commitment rescued an important industrial landmark and created a new space for the region's art scene.
