Gutshaus Steglitz, Country house in Steglitz-Zehlendorf, Germany.
Gutshaus Steglitz is a two-story mansion with Greek-Doric columns at its entrance, designed in symmetrical neoclassical proportions. The building is surrounded by additional structures that serve cultural functions and define the entire property as a unified complex.
The mansion was built between 1795 and 1808 by architects David Gilly and Heinrich Gentz, representing early Prussian neoclassical design. Their work significantly influenced how major private buildings developed in Berlin during this period.
The estate now houses the Schlosspark Theater and a cinema, where performances and screenings take place regularly. These venues have made the property a gathering place for artists and visitors from across the city.
The estate is located at Schlossstrasse 48 at the southwestern end of a major shopping street and is easily accessible. Its proximity to shops and bus stops makes visiting the theater or cinema performances straightforward.
The building underwent extensive restoration in the 1990s following a fire, with modern techniques respecting the original architectural plans. This renovation demonstrated how historical monuments can be authentically recovered while being prepared for new uses.
