Schwartzsche Villa, 19th-century villa in Steglitz-Zehlendorf, Germany.
The Schwartzsche Villa is a neo-Renaissance building with ornately designed facades built in 1895, located near Rathaus Steglitz. The house contains several rooms with different functions: a salon area, a printmaking workshop in the basement, and exhibition spaces across multiple floors.
Banker Carl Schwartz commissioned architect Christian Heidecke to design and build the house in 1895 as a summer residence. After 1992, the villa was repurposed and has served as a cultural center with exhibitions and events ever since.
Inside, various art spaces and exhibition areas are used regularly for concerts and theatrical performances. Visitors can observe active artistic work and participate in cultural events held throughout the year.
The house is open to visitors on specific days of the week, and there is a cafe area on site. Check opening hours before visiting, as they may vary depending on the season.
In the basement operates a specialized workshop where artists actively work on printing techniques, giving visitors insight into traditional art processes. The upper floors feature a salon with a piano and a room frequently used today for meetings and small events.
