Eisenbahnwelten im Kurort Rathen, Miniature park in Rathen, Germany
Eisenbahnwelten im Kurort Rathen is a miniature park with over 4700 meters of tracks through detailed landscapes containing more than 220 model houses. A 300-meter water system winds through the grounds and brings the artificial world to life.
Lothar and Margot Hanisch established this miniature park in the early 2000s on a large property in the spa town. The creators built a complex site that depicts decades of regional railway history with careful attention to detail.
The layout recreates regional landmarks such as the Weißeritztalbahn railway, Decin Castle, and the Neumannmühle mill with fine detail. Visitors recognize places as they walk through the model landscape that they know from the real surrounding area.
The grounds are easy to explore on foot and offer several seating areas for rest along the walkways. Visitors should bring comfortable shoes and plan for weather protection, since many paths are outdoors.
Around 32 model trains circulate at the same time through the landscape, offering visitors a lively scene to watch. A special section displays American locomotives on a 150-meter track, which is a rare sight in Europe.
