Fatih-Moschee, Ottoman mosque in Meschede, Germany
The Fatih Mosque displays Ottoman dome architecture with white stone decorations, calligraphy on walls, and a symbolic minaret reaching skyward.
Starting in the late 1970s, Turkish Muslim workers in Meschede gathered for prayers in various temporary spaces before establishing their first mosque in 1988.
The mosque serves both as a religious center and community hub for the Turkish-Islamic congregation, which became part of the DITIB organization in 1984.
Visitors can schedule guided tours of the mosque throughout the year, with special open house events held annually on October 3rd from noon to 6pm.
The religious building stands as the first freestanding newly constructed mosque in the Sauerland region, built between 2001 and 2008 on former coffin factory grounds.
