RetroGames

RetroGames is a museum in Karlsruhe housing over 90 video game machines and 15 pinball machines that visitors can play free of charge. The collection features working classics from different decades of arcade gaming technology.

The museum was founded in 2002 to preserve the history of electronic gaming technology and moved to Schauenburgstrasse in 2022. This relocation allowed the growing collection to be properly displayed and maintained.

A community of enthusiasts regularly gathers here to repair and maintain the collection while sharing knowledge about gaming machines. Visitors can see firsthand how this dedicated group keeps the history of arcade gaming alive and accessible.

The museum operates with limited hours, primarily on weekends, so checking the schedule before visiting is advisable. The space allows visitors to try multiple games and explore the collection at a comfortable pace.

Visitors can actually play the machines with coins, just like in the original era, adding an authentic dimension to the experience. This hands-on approach makes the visit feel like a genuine step back into personal gaming memories.
