Kloster Germerode, Monastery in Germerode, Germany

The monastery complex includes a Romanesque church with high choir and crypt, along with a refectory building from the 13th century.

Founded between 1144 and 1145 by Count Rugger II of Bilstein, the monastery initially operated as a double institution for both monks and nuns.

The monastery church of St. Mary and Walpurga features separate spaces designed for monks in the nave and nuns in the western gallery.

The monastery church remains open daily from April through October, with guided tours available by telephone reservation outside these months.

The former monastery now functions as a conference center, maintaining spiritual activities through meditation programs and religious services.
