Frankfurt-West, Municipal district in Frankfurt, Germany

Frankfurt-West is the sixth Ortsbezirk of Frankfurt am Main, covering 51.66 km² and made up of eight Stadtteile: Griesheim, Höchst, Nied, Schwanheim, Sindlingen, Sossenheim, Unterliederbach and Zeilsheim. All but Schwanheim lie on the right bank of the Main, and the district reaches from the Vordertaunus down into the Frankfurter Stadtwald. Its economic and cultural centre is Höchst, where the Kapellensaal of the Bolongaropalast seats the Ortsbeirat.

Frankfurt-West was formed as Ortsbezirk 6 and comprises eight Stadtteile: Griesheim, Höchst, Nied, Schwanheim, Sindlingen, Sossenheim, Unterliederbach and Zeilsheim. Its special status within Frankfurt goes back to the incorporation contract of 1 April 1928, which first gave the western districts a relatively independent administration in Höchst; after the Second World War this was dissolved and a dedicated municipal department for western district affairs was created, led by the mayor since 1966.

The Kapellensaal of the Bolongaropalast in Höchst serves as the meeting place of the Ortsbeirat 6, the district council. Older residents still say they are "going to Frankfurt" when travelling to the city centre, reflecting the former affiliation with Wiesbaden and Nassau. Football clubs from the western districts below the Hessenliga are assigned to the Wiesbaden region.

The district connects to central Frankfurt through multiple subway lines, bus routes, and bicycle paths. Visitors should use public transit or bicycles for travel, as these offer the most straightforward way to move around the area.

The western districts keep a special status dating from the incorporation contract of 1 April 1928; after the district administration set up in Höchst was dissolved after the Second World War, the city has kept its own department for western district affairs, led by the mayor since 1966. Older residents still say they are "going to Frankfurt" although the main station is under ten minutes away by S-Bahn.
