Gaismannshof, Residential district in western Nuremberg, Germany
Gaismannshof is a residential district in western Nuremberg that stretches from Frankenschnellweg in the north to Rothenburger Street in the south. The neighborhood contains residential buildings with cultivated fields surrounding the developed areas.
The hamlet was first recorded in the 15th or 16th century and likely took its name from the Geuschmied family, who held seats on the Nuremberg city council. The area gained economic importance over time through the development of regional enterprises.
The residential buildings mix traditional farmhouses from the 1700s with modern single-family and row houses built in recent decades. Walking through the streets, you see this blend of older rural structures and newer residential construction side by side.
The district is well served by regular bus connections that make it easy to get around. Daily shopping needs are covered by small shops along Leyher Street.
Since 1959, the district has been home to Nuremberg's wholesale market, serving as a key distribution hub for the region. This trading center continues to influence daily business activity and traffic patterns throughout the area.
