Wintersberg, Mountain summit in Hesse, Germany

Wintersberg is a mountain in the Spessart range that rises 434 meters above sea level and separates the valleys of the Hasel and Orb rivers. The landscape is shaped by dense forest typical of this central German mountain region.

Wintersberg lies about two kilometres south-east of Bad Orb's town centre. Its south-eastern neighbour, the Wegscheide hill, held the Stalag IX-B prisoner-of-war camp during the Second World War; the site now serves as a children's summer camp, the Kinderdorf Wegscheide. A ridge path of just over two kilometres links the two hills.

The two-kilometre ridge path from Wintersberg to the Wegscheide children's village follows the old route toward the site of Stalag IX-B, the prisoner-of-war camp that stood on the neighbouring hill and now serves as a summer camp for children. The Spessartbogen long-distance trail crosses the northern slope above the Haselbach valley before dropping steeply to the valley floor.

The shortest ascent from Bad Orb runs via the Hochstraße, climbing at an average gradient of twelve percent to the summit in about one hour. A good two-kilometre ridge path links the Wintersberg with the Kinderdorf Wegscheide to the southeast.
