Künstlerhaus Lukas

Künstlerhaus Lukas is a studio building along Dorfstraße in Ahrenshoop that provides creative workspaces and living quarters for artists. The building accommodates various artistic disciplines and can be visited from outside, particularly during open studio events held monthly.

Paul Müller-Kaempff founded the building in 1894 as a guesthouse and studio tradition for creators. After serving a different purpose during the Second World War, it returned to its original artistic mission.

The house has long served as a gathering place where creators from various disciplines worked and developed their art. Visitors can observe during open studio events how current residents create in their workshops and share their ongoing projects.

Open studio events occur on the last Sunday of each month, allowing visitors to enter the workshops and talk with resident artists about their work. It is wise to check ahead to confirm that the planned event is taking place.

The building was repurposed as a refugee shelter during wartime, serving a completely different function than its original intent. This unusual chapter demonstrates how cultural spaces had to adapt during periods of major upheaval.
