Landeskroner Weiher, reservoir
The Landeskroner Weiher is a small reservoir near Wilnsdorf, surrounded by forest and greenery with clear water. The lake stretches roughly 230 meters in length and is fed by the Wildebach stream, which flows in from the east and exits on the west side.
A dam was built on the Wildebach in 1890 to store water for mining purposes but collapsed after just days of heavy rain. Since the 1960s, the Autobahn 45 crosses above the lake on a large bridge to connect mining and industrial areas.
The lake takes its name from a historical regional reference to Landeskrone. Today, locals and visitors use this spot for quiet walks and moments of reflection, making it part of everyday life in the area.
The lake is freely accessible with no fixed hours and can be visited during daylight, though swimming is only recommended after checking local safety conditions. A small path from Burbacher Straße leads through the woods to the lake with nearby parking for visitors.
A notable feature is the Talbrücke Landeskroner Weiher, a massive highway bridge crossing the water that has required extensive repairs since 2022. This technical structure creates a striking contrast with the natural surroundings and shapes the lake's landscape.
