Hahnenkamm

Hahnenkamm is a mountain in the Spessart range in Bavaria, rising to approximately 436 meters. Its slopes are covered by dense forest, with various rock formations scattered along the hillsides that shape the landscape.

The mountain routes were established by local communities starting in the 1800s, serving primarily for transportation and trade. These historical paths remain partly visible today, showing the mountain's long-standing importance to the region.

The name Hahnenkamm refers to the peak's shape, which resembles a rooster's comb, following an old German tradition of naming mountains after their forms. Visitors quickly understand this naming when they observe the mountain's distinctive outline from below.

The mountain is accessible from multiple entry points, with parking available at the base and signs marking different difficulty levels. Visit during dry weather conditions, as forest paths can become slippery after rain.

The eastern slope displays particular geological layers that show the transformation of sedimentary rocks over millions of years. These formations are easy to spot for those interested in geology and reveal the mountain's deep time history.
