Schloss Buchenau

Schloss Buchenau is a Renaissance castle in Eiterfeld featuring architectural elements in the Weser Renaissance style from the 17th century. The complex consists of several buildings arranged around the main structure, creating a spacious overall impression.

Georg Melchior von Buchenau and Agnes von Schwalbach had the main castle built between 1611 and 1618. The building combines regional architectural traditions and shaped the family's history across generations.

The place takes its name from the Buchenau family, who exercised power here for centuries. Today you can still sense how the noble family used the castle as a symbol of their status.

The castle functions today as a conference hotel with modern accommodations spread across several buildings. Visitors will find seminar spaces and dining facilities, making it a functional venue for various occasions.

The town of Buchenau is home to three different castles, each named after the noble families that once owned them. Each castle tells its own story and still carries the names of the families who ruled there.
