Götzenbüschchen, Hill summit in Rabenau, Germany
Götzenbüschchen is a hill in the Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge district positioned between the Roter Weißeritz and Oelsabach rivers. The site displays layered geological formations with sandstone-bearing soils and rock structures from the Cretaceous period.
The northwestern section was formerly a sandstone quarry and was acquired by Landesverein Sächsischer Heimatschutz in 1942. Protected status was granted in 1953 to preserve its geological features.
The geological formations at Götzenbüschchen provide scientists and researchers with valuable information about climate conditions during the Cretaceous period.
The site features educational panels about geology and geocaching opportunities for exploration. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and check local weather conditions before arriving.
The site contains rare red earth formations created from weathered Freiberger Gneiss. This layer is covered by Cretaceous sandstone with preserved original soil structures.
