Gut Holzhausen, Heritage estate in Nieheim, Germany
The classicist manor house stands on a square moated island, featuring a three-axle balcony supported by Tuscan columns and sandstone attics with vases.
The von der Borch family received the estate as a fief from Prince-Bishop Simon III zur Lippe in 1484 and continues to own the property today.
The estate serves as an international meeting center for cultural events, conferences, and seminars within its collection of historic buildings and halls.
Visitors can purchase Demeter certified potatoes directly from the farm, which operates under biodynamic agricultural principles since 1956.
A medieval dovecote with a conical roof stands among the stables, while the rental office displays notable half-timbered architecture from 1572.
