Freilichtbühne Bökendorf

The Freilichtbühne Bökendorf is an open-air theater complex in a wooded area near Brakel with three separate performance spaces connected by underground passages. Audiences watch from a covered grandstand with seating for around 990 spectators.

The theater was founded in 1950 and initially operated outdoors with audiences sitting on chairs that were transported for each performance. A permanent roof was added in 1964 to protect spectators from the weather.

The stage is run by amateur performers from the region who work together to rehearse and present productions. The ensemble brings together people of different ages who share their passion for theater with the audience.
