Brückenwirt, Architectural heritage monument in Bavaria, Germany.
The Brückenwirt is a former excursion inn in Höllriegelskreuth, a district of Pullach im Isartal, on the left bank of the Isar just south of the Grünwalder Isarbrücke. Franz Höllriegel built it in 1848 as a dwelling and business building in the style of an Upper Bavarian Einfirsthof, a single-roof farmstead combining house, barn and stable under one ridge. It is listed as a monument in the Bavarian monument list.
Stonemason Franz Höllriegel, founder and namesake of Höllriegelskreuth, built a residential and commercial building here in 1848 in the style of an Upper Bavarian Einfirsthof, below the steep slopes of the Isar high bank. In 1890, more than thirty years after his death, the Isarwerke acquired the property and set up a canteen for workers building the Isar-Werkkanal. After the canal and Isarkraftwerk II were completed, the first licence for a public inn was granted to Jakob Bosch on 21 November 1905.
The name Höllriegelskreuth comes from stonemason Franz Höllriegel, who built the house in 1848 and opened quarries in the slopes to cut Nagelfluh. From 1890 the Isarwerke ran a canteen here for the workers building the Isar-Werkkanal. After the canal and Isarkraftwerk II were finished, Jakob Bosch received the first licence for a public inn on 21 November 1905.
The Brückenwirt stands in Höllriegelskreuth on the left bank of the Isar, just south of the Grünwalder Isarbrücke and served by the Isartalbahn line. The site is a short walk from the Höllriegelskreuth station stop, and the riverside path along the Isar passes directly by the building.
Franz Höllriegel, the stonemason who built the house in 1848, gave his name to the whole district of Höllriegelskreuth; he also laid out the Höllriegel-Park landscape garden beside it and opened quarries in the slopes to cut Nagelfluh conglomerate.
