Schloss Babstadt, Castle in Bad Rappenau-Babstadt, Germany.
Schloss Babstadt is a castle in Bad Rappenau featuring four corner turrets, a high gable roof, and a prominent stairway built in late 19th-century style. The private property is enclosed by walls with crenellations and includes a landscaped park extending to the south.
The building replaces an earlier structure from 1712 that was damaged during the Thirty Years War and fell into disrepair. Stuttgart architect Carl Weigle redesigned the current structure between 1898 and 1911.
The castle displays architectural traces from different eras, ranging from Renaissance to Baroque, blended into its late 19th-century design. The forested park to the south creates a setting that frames the building within its landscape surroundings.
The castle is privately owned and not open to visitors, so it can only be viewed from the exterior. The surrounding walls and gates clearly mark the boundaries of the private property.
The castle is one of the youngest in the Heilbronn district, built around 1900 when most other fortifications in the region were centuries old. This makes it a striking example of late 19th-century design among primarily medieval structures.
