Bad Rappenau

Bad Rappenau is a spa town in the Heilbronn district of Baden-Württemberg with eight districts connected by parks and green spaces. Medical facilities and thermal baths run through the urban area and form the core of its infrastructure.

The settlement grew from three villages first mentioned in writing during 1343. The discovery of brine springs in 1822 led to its transformation into a healing spa, which developed into a major resort especially after World War II.

The town's name comes from the brine springs that naturally flow here and shape its character. These bathing facilities and wellness areas are now central gathering places where visitors and residents spend time together for health and relaxation.

The town is accessible by rail; Bad Rappenau station sits on the Elsenz Valley Railway with connections to Heidelberg and Bad Friedrichshall. The layout allows visitors to explore the town on foot, with wellness facilities scattered throughout the area.

The town experienced its peak years as a spa resort during the 1950s when multiple thermal baths opened in succession. This rapid development made it one of Baden's largest spa destinations of that era, though it remains less well-known than other healing resorts in the region.
