Schloss Heinsheim

Schloss Heinsheim is a baroque castle in Bad Rappenau-Heinsheim featuring two and three-story structures with carefully designed facades and a hipped roof. The complex sits at the heart of the village and functions today as a hotel with restaurant facilities integrated throughout the property.

The Racknitz family from Styria built the castle between 1725 and 1729 on the foundations of a damaged earlier structure belonging to the von Ehrenberg family. Decades later, extensive gardens were added to the estate, completing the aristocratic seat into its present form.

The baroque chapel built in 1706 holds a nobility loge and honors the von Ehrenberg family through historical heraldic decorations. Visitors can see these armorial elements that reflect the aristocratic past of the location.

The castle operates as a hotel offering overnight accommodations and serves regional cuisine in its restaurant. The property also provides rooms suitable for private celebrations and business meetings.

The castle gardens were systematically designed in 1810 by Carl Freiherr von Racknitz and continue to define the grounds today. This landscape design demonstrates how early garden planning integrated the estate into the surrounding countryside.
