St. Hilarius Heinsheim, Choir tower church in Heinsheim, Bad Rappenau, Germany.

St. Hilarius Heinsheim is a choir tower church in Heinsheim featuring a cross-ribbed vault ceiling. The interior walls display frescoes from the 13th century showing scenes from the Last Judgment.

The structure was built between the 7th and 8th centuries and ranks among the oldest religious buildings in southwestern Germany. Over the centuries it was modified several times and served for extended periods as a burial site for local nobility.

The church has served as an important gathering space for the local community over centuries. It remains central to religious life and local traditions today.

The building sits in the town center of Heinsheim and is easily accessible on foot. Access is generally available, but it is wise to check opening times ahead of time, especially if you are interested in a guided tour or special viewing.

During restoration work in the early 20th century, symbols of the four evangelists were discovered in the wall paintings, revealing previously unknown details. These findings today offer insight into the artistic design of the medieval period.
