Hanover Historical Museum
Hanover Historical Museum, History museum in Mitte, Germany.
The Hanover Historical Museum contains four departments presenting regional collections through photographs, objects, vehicles, and administrative documents from different periods.
Founded in 1903 as Vaterlandisches Museum, the building sustained damage during World War II bombings in 1943 before reconstruction started in 1950.
The museum integrates the last medieval tower of Hanover and a section of the city wall from 1643 into its current structure.
The museum opens Tuesday from 10 AM to 7 PM, Wednesday through Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM, and weekends from 10 AM to 6 PM.
The exhibition area spans multiple floors containing artifacts that document changes from the transformation of Hanover from a principality to a modern trade city.

Hanover offers a wide range of sights that reflect the history, culture, and architecture of the capital of Lower Saxony. The city is home to several important museums, including the State Museum with collections on art and natural history, and the Sprengel Museum for modern art. Historic buildings such as the New Town Hall with its large dome and the medieval Market Church shape the cityscape. The Herrenhausen Gardens rank among the most important Baroque garden complexes in Europe and extend over a large area in the northern part of the city. The Maschsee, an artificial lake created in the 1930s, serves as a recreational area. Other attractions include the reconstructed Leibniz House, the Aegidien Church as a war memorial, and the historic Red Thread that guides visitors to the main points of the Old Town.
