Holzkapelle Ralswiek, Lutheran chapel in Ralswiek, Germany
The wooden chapel is a small church building with red-painted walls and white trim details following traditional Swedish architectural design. The structure contains simple interior spaces with an altar and seating for worshippers and visitors.
In 1907, Count Douglas purchased the chapel as an exhibition piece in Stockholm and transported it across the Baltic Sea to Ralswiek. The building was reconstructed on site and has served as a place of worship for the local community ever since.
The chapel serves as a gathering place for the local evangelical Lutheran community to worship and mark important life moments. Its distinctive red wooden structure with white trim has become a visual symbol of the village's religious identity.
The chapel is located on Dorfstrasse 56 and is easily accessible on foot; the building regularly hosts religious services and concerts. It is advisable to check beforehand for current opening hours and event schedules.
The chapel's entrance displays the German inscription 'Die Liebe höret nimmer auf', meaning 'Love never ends', drawn from a well-known biblical verse. These words greet visitors at the threshold and convey a spiritual message directly upon arrival.
