Hoher Schaden, Mountain summit in Eitorf, Germany.

Hoher Schaden is a mountain summit in Eitorf reaching 388 meters in elevation and forming the highest point in the municipality within the Leuscheid forest area. Its position provides natural views over the surrounding wooded landscape.

A wooden observation platform with three levels was built on the summit in 1867, shaping how people viewed the mountain for generations. This early structure shows the site attracted visitors from that era onward.

This summit is connected to local water traditions, as it is where multiple springs originate that feed into various streams in the region.

Multiple hiking routes reach the summit, with routes varying in duration and steepness depending on your starting point in the area. It is best to wear sturdy footwear since the forest floor can be uneven and paths may become slippery during wetter seasons.

The summit is the birthplace of multiple streams whose water travels across the land and eventually flows into larger rivers. Each stream follows its own path, with one system feeding into the Sieg River while another sustains different waterways in the region.
