Manoir de Grabau, Heritage manor house in Grabau, Germany.
The manoir de Grabau is a manor house in Grabau, Schleswig-Holstein, made up of several buildings, including a square tower topped with an octagonal open lantern and a curved dome roof. The main structure is built in limestone and has been extended at different points over the centuries.
The estate traces back to a Wendish village and passed through several families before the Buchwaldt family took ownership in medieval times. The building as it stands today reflects changes and additions made across several centuries.
The entrance hall has colorful Art Nouveau windows and figurative mosaics that are still visible today. The former living rooms retain detailed wood paneling and stucco ornaments that give the interior a strong decorative character.
The property has been largely unoccupied since 1998 and is not open to the public in the usual sense. It is worth checking ahead before visiting, as access to the buildings may be limited or unavailable.
The house was used as a filming location for German productions, including the crime film Schändung and the television series Der Tatortreiniger. These appearances on screen gave the building a second life beyond its history as a private residence.
