Kernerhaus, Literary museum in Weinsberg, Germany.
The Kernerhaus is a residence in Weinsberg that belonged to physician and poet Justinus Kerner and preserves original furnishings from the 19th century. The rooms display bedrooms, living areas, and a study furnished with period-appropriate furniture and objects from that era.
The house was built in 1822 and became a meeting place for many well-known artists and intellectuals throughout the 19th century. After Kerner's death, the building developed into a public place of remembrance.
The house shows how Kerner built his life between medicine and poetry, and which artists and thinkers came to visit him. Visitors can see the rooms where these creative people gathered and shared their ideas.
The building is easily accessible on foot and the rooms are open in their original layout. Visitors should allow time for a leisurely walk through the different rooms and to view the exhibits carefully.
On the grounds stands the so-called Ghost Tower, a former prison tower that Kerner purchased in 1824 and incorporated into his property. The separate Alexander House guest lodge reveals how wealthy and generous the owner was.
