Hotel Astoria

Hotel Astoria is a protected heritage building in central Leipzig situated between Kurt-Schumacher-Strasse and Gerberstrasse. The structure combines classical architecture with hotel facilities and was originally designed to accommodate around 200 rooms.

The building opened on December 5, 1915, marking an early chapter in modern Leipzig's hospitality. It sustained damage during the December 1943 air raid on the city but was not completely destroyed.

The dining room displays wall paintings by Werner Tübke that define its interior character. The architecture bears the signature of Dresden architects William Lossow and Max Hans Kühne, whose design approach is evident throughout the structure.

The location sits very close to Leipzig Central Station, making arrival straightforward and offering a central position in the city. The proximity to major streets ensures easy access to pedestrian areas and other nearby attractions.

Before the hotel was built, the site held the Leipzig Fire Insurance building, which occupied the location beforehand. The original main entrance faced Kurt-Schumacher-Strasse toward the Central Station, reflecting the site's direct station connection.
