Hotel Astoria, Heritage hotel near Leipzig Central Station, Germany
Hotel Astoria spans 2,800 square meters with a protected facade, positioned between Kurt-Schumacher-Strasse and Gerberstrasse in central Leipzig.
The hotel opened on December 5, 1915, with 200 rooms and 35 bathrooms, and survived partial destruction during the December 1943 air raid on Leipzig.
The dining room features wall paintings by Werner Tübke, and the building represents architectural designs by Dresden architects William Lossow and Max Hans Kühne.
The property changed ownership in 2016 to Intown Property Management and currently undergoes renovations to convert half of its planned 250 rooms.
Before the hotel construction, the site housed the Leipzig Fire Insurance building, and the original main entrance faced the central station on Kurt-Schumacher-Strasse.
