Rasta-Dome, multi-purpose hall

The Rasta-Dome is a multi-purpose arena in Vechta, Lower Saxony, home of the basketball club SC Rasta Vechta. It opened on 12 October 2012 with around 2,000 seats, of which 1,600 were seated places, and was expanded in 2013 to 3,140 places.

The Rasta-Dome was inaugurated in October 2012 after a one-year construction period, with around 2,000 seats, 1,600 of them seated. Because that capacity fell below the Basketball Bundesliga minimum, the hall was expanded by about 1,000 places to 3,140 in the first week of October 2013, which secured the licence for SC Rasta Vechta's promotion. For 2015/16 the VIP area grew by around 100 seats and gained its own kitchen, at a cost of about 400,000 euros.

The name Rasta-Dome ties the arena to SC Rasta Vechta, the basketball club that plays its home games here. When the club reached the Bundesliga in 2013, the remaining 12,000-plus tickets for the 2013/14 home season sold out on 14 October 2013, about ninety minutes after sales opened.

The arena opened on 12 October 2012 and hosted its first event the following day. It was built in a year and expanded in early October 2013 to 3,140 seats, up from 2,000, to meet Basketball Bundesliga capacity rules. The VIP area gained about 100 seats and its own kitchen for 2015/16, a roughly 400,000-euro investment.

After the 2013 expansion to 3,140 seats, the remaining 12,000-plus tickets for SC Rasta Vechta's 2013/14 home games sold out on 14 October 2013, just an hour and a half after sales opened.
