Skulpturenpark Im Tal, Sculpture garden in Hasselbach, Germany.
Skulpturenpark Im Tal is a sculpture garden covering about 10 hectares between Hasselbach and Werkhausen with meadows, forests, and the Mehrbach river. About 50 permanent art installations are spread across the grounds and are reached by mown pathways and forest trails.
Sculptor Erwin Wortelkamp founded the park in 1986, transforming previously unused land into an art space. Over 40 artists and architects contributed works that shaped the park into its current form.
The exhibition space dedicated to August Sander displays photographs from the renowned Westerwald photographer within the park's natural setting. The display connects his artistic work to the surrounding landscape environment.
The grounds can be explored year-round, though sturdy footwear is recommended because of natural terrain and forest paths. There are no formal gates, so visitors can access the pathways freely and wander through the site at their own pace.
Many artworks in the park were designed specifically for this location and engage with the existing natural features. The installations merge with the meadows, forest areas, and stream courses so naturally that they feel like part of the landscape rather than imposed upon it.
