Sender Leher Feld, Radio transmission tower in Horn-Lehe, Germany
Sender Leher Feld was a radio transmission facility with three main towers, the tallest reaching approximately 200 meters near the A27 motorway. The installation served as a broadcast center for transmitting programs across multiple frequencies to surrounding areas.
Radio Bremen built the transmission facility in 1951 to broadcast programs across northern Germany. After nearly 50 years of operation, the installation was completely demolished in January 1999 and the site later developed into a commercial area.
The transmission towers were a familiar landmark visible from many parts of the region for decades. People who grew up nearby remember them as part of the local landscape and identity.
The site is no longer publicly accessible as it has been developed into the Horn-Lehe West commercial district. However, the location remains easy to reach via several transportation routes and offers opportunities to walk through the modern industrial area.
The facility was part of early German radio broadcasting in the 1920s and played a key role in reaching audiences across northern Germany. Over the decades, it became a technological landmark that reflected how radio transmission methods evolved and improved.
