Ober-Sensbach, Protected natural area in Sensbachtal, Germany.
Ober-Sensbach is a territorial marking within Sensbachtal situated at 407 meters elevation and surrounded by forested slopes and hills. The terrain is shaped by the Odenwald's topography, with narrow valleys and green spaces that define the landscape.
First documented mention occurred in 1359 as Sentzenbach, later known as Ober-Sentzelspach from 1443 under Erbach-Fürstenau court administration. The territory remained part of these smaller lordships before reaching modern municipal boundaries.
The 1619 cemetery chapel and former 1781 mill shape the village character and reflect the craft traditions of the area. They show how residents lived and worked here across generations.
The K 39 district road connects the area to larger routes L 3108 and L 3120, providing links to the broader Odenwald region. Travel is managed through these local road networks that traverse the valley and make it accessible.
The territory merged into Sensbachtal in 1971, which then fully integrated into the newly created town of Oberzent in 2018. This double consolidation joined multiple settlements and reshaped the regional structure rapidly.
