Liebfrauenkirche, Catholic parish church in Bad Salzuflen, Germany
Liebfrauenkirche is a parish church in Bad Salzuflen featuring a high hall design with saddle roofs and a rectangular tower on its side. The interior holds a large organ with 43 registers across 4 manuals that was completed by Freiburger Orgelbau in 2019.
The church was constructed between 1956 and 1958 by architect Josef Lucas to serve the growing Catholic community in Bad Salzuflen. The project responded to the need for a modern worship space in the city during the post-war expansion period.
Inside, a large hanging cross made from ancient moorland oak features rock crystals and semi-precious stones holding up a bronze Christ figure. This blend of natural wood and precious stones creates an unusual focal point for worship.
Visits are possible during service times and visiting hours, with the entire space being accessible on ground level. Keep in mind this is an active worship space where silence and respect are expected from guests.
The tabernacle tree was crafted from a 150-year-old oak trunk and features bronze arms depicting biblical scenes with LED lights that shift to match liturgical colors. This fusion of ancient wood and modern lighting was completed during the organ restoration.
