Fehmarn Flügge, Lighthouse in Fehmarn, Germany.

Fehmarn Flügge is a lighthouse on the southwestern tip of Fehmarn island built with yellow brick in an octagonal shape. The 37-meter-tall tower is protected by red and white fiber cement panels that reinforce its exterior walls.

This structure was built in 1916 and replaced an original tower from 1872 as maritime navigation in front of this coast was being developed. In the 1970s, the tower received its characteristic protective panels to ensure the longevity of the brick structure.

The tower with its distinctive red and white panels has become an emblem of Fehmarn's southwestern coast and a landmark for the island. Local people and visitors use it as an orientation point and favorite photography spot during walks along the coastal paths.

The tower is easily reached from various walking trails that crisscross the island and regularly connect to this destination. It is closed on Mondays, but open on other days for visitors to explore.

This is the only accessible lighthouse beacon on the island and today also serves as a venue for celebratory events such as weddings. This unexpected dual purpose connects maritime heritage with modern life celebrations.
