Heiligenhafen pier, Pier on the Steinwarder peninsula in Schleswig-Holstein

Heiligenhafen pier is a 2011–2012 promenade built on 48 steel piles, each 18 metres long, with prestressed concrete beams and hardwood decking and railings. Its three angled, partly two-storey sections hold a children's play area, a bathing deck, a coffee bar, public toilets and seating and lounging spots, plus a fully glazed sea lounge.

Construction of the pier began in 2011, and it was inaugurated on 28 June 2012 in the presence of Schleswig-Holstein's minister-president Torsten Albig, in time for the summer season. It stands on 48 steel piles, each 18 metres long, with prestressed concrete beams and hardwood decking and railings.

The pier was built as a tourist promenade, not a ship landing, because the water is too shallow. Its glassed-in Meereslounge hosts wedding ceremonies held by Heiligenhafen's registry office, and a children's play area, bathing deck and coffee bar line the three angled sections.

The pier is easily accessible on foot and open for walking year-round, though coastal weather can change quickly. Bring a windbreaker since the Baltic coast experiences unpredictable conditions, and check weather forecasts before visiting as storms can roll in from the sea.
