Lauvenburg, Medieval castle in Kaarst, Germany
The Lauvenburg estate features a main building with a square layout, surrounded by moats and complemented by outbuildings on the property grounds.
The castle's first documented mention dates to 1299 when Heinrich von Lovenburg transferred his tithes to the Abbey of Kamp in the region.
The central entrance displays traditional German architectural elements with stone balustrades and lion coat of arms decorating the portal entrance.
Located between Kaarst and Neusserfurth, the castle stands approximately two and a half kilometers east of Kaarst town center.
During World War II, the castle grounds were transformed into a field airport, marking a significant change in the property's function.
