Mainz-Lerchenberg, Residential district in Mainz, Germany
Mainz-Lerchenberg is a residential district in the southwestern part of Mainz, located at an elevation of 228 meters and surrounded by fields and the Ober-Olmer forest. The area has a clear structure with apartment blocks, green spaces, and central facilities such as schools and shopping areas.
The district was created in 1964 as part of Mainz's celebration of its 2000th anniversary. It was built to address the housing shortage that developed after World War II.
This district is home to the ZDF television center and the German headquarters of 3sat, giving it a special role as a media hub. These institutions shape how the neighborhood sees itself as a center for communication.
A tram line connects the district directly to central Mainz, making it easy to reach. There is also a dedicated motorway exit to the A60, which simplifies access from outside.
The district has a special trampoline park with ten fields, which is one of the larger recreational offerings in the area. In addition, there are four kindergartens and several sports facilities that round out the family-friendly offerings.
